The paper proposes a system of safety monitoring based on wireless sensor networks (WSN) under the coal mine. The system can not only monitor the environmental situation in underground coal mines, can collect information on miner's vital signs, and also be provided with self-help function. The system have more reliability and security than the existing systems of safety monitoring under the coal mine.
